Uniya Seminar Series 2006 to focus on Australia-Indonesia relations

Uniya today announces that the Uniya Seminar Series 2006 will focus on Australia's relationship with Indonesia. This year's topic will be: "Good Neighbour, Bad Neighbour. What's the difference? Australia's relations with Indonesia".

Presented by Uniya Jesuit Social Justice Centre, the series are given annually and focus on topical social justice issues.

People prominent in the area of Australia-Indonesia relations will be brought together to unpack the complexity of this relationship and to suggest ways forward for better relations.

This year’s series will include Richard Woolcott AC, Associate Professor Damien Kingsbury, Professor Adrian Vickers, Duncan Campbell AM, Sidney Jones, Professor Peter King, Dr John Bruni, John Martinkus and Professor Frank Brennan SJ AO.

The Uniya Seminar Seminars were first held in 1999 to mark 150 years of Jesuit work in Australia. Speakers have included judges, lawyers and business leaders as well as academics, researchers, policy-makers and advocates.

The series will be held in Melbourne on 2 August, Wollongong on 8 August, Sydney on 16 August, and Adelaide on 22 August.

Founded in 1989, Uniya is a centre for social justice and human rights research, advocacy, education and networking.
